Your training data stays on your device

The short version

MyGymBuddy works fully offline. Your workouts, routines, equipment profiles, records and any heart-rate data are stored only on your phone. There is no MyGymBuddy account, no MyGymBuddy server, no ads and no analytics. We don't sell or share your data, because we never receive it.

Two things involve another company, and only when you use them: buying MyGymBuddy Pro (handled by Google Play), and reading data from Health Connect (which stays on your phone). Both are described below.

What the app stores on your device

This data lives in the app's private storage. MyGymBuddy does not transmit it anywhere.

Health Connect

If you choose Settings → Connect Samsung Health, MyGymBuddy asks Android for permission to read these Health Connect data types:

Data typeWhy
Heart rateTo show average, maximum and minimum heart rate on the summary of a workout you logged in MyGymBuddy.
Exercise sessionsTo find the watch recording that matches the time of your logged workout, and show its duration.
Active calories burnedTo show calories for that same workout.

MyGymBuddy's use of information received from Health Connect adheres to the Health Connect Permissions policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Buying MyGymBuddy Pro

MyGymBuddy is free to download. Pro is an optional one-time purchase made through Google Play. Google processes the payment under Google's privacy policy; we never see your card or payment details.

To confirm a purchase and restore it on a new phone, the app uses RevenueCat, a purchase-verification service. RevenueCat receives the purchase record from Google Play (product, date, purchase token) and a random identifier created by the app. That identifier isn't your name or email, and none of your training or health data is sent. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.

Backups and exports

What we don't collect

If the app crashes, Google Play may collect a crash report under your device's settings and Google's policies. MyGymBuddy adds no crash-reporting service of its own.

Deleting your data

Because your data is on your device, you control it: delete individual workouts in the app, or uninstall the app to remove everything it stored. Health Connect data belongs to Health Connect and is managed there.

Children

MyGymBuddy is not directed at children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If MyGymBuddy's handling of data changes (for example, an optional cloud backup), this page will be updated with a new date before that feature ships, and the change will be described here.
